Welcome to our basic introduction to the wide world of bellydance. No dance experience necessary! In this class students learn the foundations of bellydance including posture, body isolation, vocabulary and basic music counting skills. Several types of bellydance are touched on in this class but will mainly revolve around traditional Turkish cabaret style.

Our Ballet Foundations class is intended to help dancers grow in confidence and control through movement. In this class, students will learn balance, core strength and techniques which can be applied to all other dance disciplines.
This dance style will bring together an awareness of foot placement, harmonious movement, and gaze to elevate and polish the dancer’s form Emphasis will be placed on coordination and stability, with progress growing steadily from the ground up.

Amira’s Scottish dance class includes dances from Highland, Step, and Country dance traditions. Our base is in Scottish country dance, which is a dance style usually performed in a set of 3-4 couples. The steps are based on highland dance and codified using ballet terminology. This style of social dance has figures arranged to complement the music, and as such includes both fast and slow time. Though technique is important, the true nature of the dance is one of friendship and reveling in the music.
Highland and Scottish Step Dance are learned with performance in mind, rather than being danced socially. All these art forms have their unique beauty expressed through lively music.

A new, dynamic approach to middle-eastern-style bellydance! New dancers will learn dance vocabulary and movements as well as gain strength, balance, and focus, through dance combinations. Seasoned dancers will learn a new approach to familiar bellydance vocabulary through body mechanics and understanding the anatomy of movement. Learn how to increase the impact of your movements while preventing potential injury! Classes may also include the use of props such as veils, canes, and fans.

FatChanceBellyDance®Style celebrates the strength and beauty of working together as a group. Formatted steps, cues, eye-contact, and the familiarity of musical phrasing allow dancers to stitch together an improvisational tapestry each time they dance.
In this class, you will learn the beauty of FCBD®Style by drilling the basic moves in formations unique to this dance style. Using both slow steps and fast steps, we’ll get you dancing in your first class!

This style of bellydance involves group improvisation. ITS is performed by dancers consisting of one or more “leaders” with “followers” making up the group. They rely on a shared vocabulary of movements initiated by the leader using distinct cues. The cue guides the followers into performing short choreographed sequences or combos. The leader is guided by the music, often spontaneously, at a dance event. The result is a style that appears to be choreographed but is actually structured improvisation.

Based on a style created by the innovative American dancer, Rachel Brice, this class focuses on muscle group isolations, step patterns, movements, combinations and more. While this class focuses on the Datura™ Style, it can be a valuable component in your dance training because of its versatility and ability to enhance any dance style.

This is a dynamic dance style commonly seen in East Indian “Bollywood” movies. It utilizes footwork combinations and stylized hand/body movements to create its distinctive style. Bollywood combines classical forms of dance including traditional Indian, folk, salsa and belly dance while also incorporating more contemporary Western forms such as hip hop, jazz and funk. Having no set rules, Bollywood dancing is the perfect means to encourage freedom of expression by anyone at any age. The colorful costuming that is known from this dance form is nothing short of amazing!

Indulge in an American passion - hoop dance! Learn hula hooping tricks and dance moves together for a fun workout! A hula hoop can be your dance partner and your dance prop. Hula hoops provided. Join us for some hula hooping!
Note: Class offered with a minimum enrollment of three students.

Couples are preferred but singles are always welcome!
Dance styles include: Rumba, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, West Coast Swing and others. These styles allow couples to dance with ease to a variety of music themes from Swing to Latin to Ballroom styles. A different dance style is introduced each month. Come out and experience the magic, the fun, the joy and love of Couples Dance!

Students learn basic drum rhythms centering primarily around Egyptian styles using the darbouka. Several basic middle eastern patterns are introduced in this class. This class also benefits current dance students to further understand the musical nuances behind well known rhythms. Build confidence with solos and drum fills in our percussion class. Feel free to bring your zills, castanets, tambourine, or dancing skills!

Get your body moving to energetic Latin beats with this fun cardio class! Zumba is a form of aerobic fitness exercise based on Latin American dance rhythms. Participants are taught some basic, easy to learn movements that will get your heart pumping!
